"I'm walking on Sunshine...Oh, Oh...and don't it feel good"

Actually, the title should read 'walking "in Sunrise" (hospital), but hey, close enough. Erin had another very busy day today but she took on every challenge and as I would put it, "kicked butt!"

She started her day with some pampering as I helped wash and style her hair. I don't think I should quit my day job, but it was better than nothing. After the trip to the Salon de Andre, Erin had her OT and PT appointments. During these, she worked on walking on the parallel bars and then walked with her walker in the hallway. She walked about 60 to 65 feet during her last session of the day which is such a great accomplishment. It is nice to see her confidence build each day. Erin also had fun learning how to put socks on with a device that allows her to put her foot into the sock without bending at the waist. If only I would have thought of that invention...maybe during my free time I can think about these obscurities! She also got "the claw" which allows her to pick things up from her bed or if she drops anything while walking. Knowing Erin, I have a feeling that a butt pinch or two might be in the works:).

Erin will have therapy tomorrow and Sunday will be a day of rest unless Erin requests to walk the hall. We also found out that she can go to the hospital garden with me so we hope that the weather is nice enough to do this during the afternoon. I think some fresh air would be great for the both of us!

I always knew that Erin was strong, but I never knew just how strong she really was. Her determination is really inspiring and makes me smile each time I see her out there "kicking butt."

As Erin and I would say...today deserves a 'high fiveeeeeeeeee"!

Until tomorrow,

Erin and Andy

  3. Your progress is truly amazing just like you! I admire your determination as you take on new challenges each day. Even though I no longer will be there in person to cheer your daily accomplishments, know that thoughts and prayers are always with you and Andy.

I hope you can enjoy the hospital garden and get that fresh air today. It is definitely a change to get back to good ole Iowa winter.

    Love,
